Technology Transfer (TT) provides services for ░─├┼┴¨║¤▓╩═╝╣Ď┼Ă Innovators, from protecting intellectual property to the commercialization of new discoveries through licensing and/or new enterprise development. It serves as a link between the commercial marketplace and ░─├┼┴¨║¤▓╩═╝╣Ď┼Ă faculty. TT offers ░─├┼┴¨║¤▓╩═╝╣Ď┼Ă researchers expertise and guidance regarding the protection of intellectual property, including patents and copyrights, and in seeking licensing agreements with commercial entities to take ░─├┼┴¨║¤▓╩═╝╣Ď┼Ă research developments into the marketplace for the public benefit.

Technology Transfer is led by the Vice President, Research and Sponsored Programs. ╠ř

The Office of Technology Transfer aims for efficiency╠řand expediency in╠řhandling your inventions and innovative new ideas.
Below are the steps our office takes to help you begin the journey to╠řprotecting your intellectual property.╠ř

Present your Invention

Research activities often lead to╠řdiscoveries
An invention is any useful╠řprocess,
machine, composition of matter, or any
new or useful improvement of the same.╠ř


File a Disclosure Form, immediately,╠řif you believe╠ř
your╠řinvention has╠řthe potential to be patent protected.╠ř╠ř

IMPORTANT: ╠řIt is critical to avoid public
disclosure╠řof your╠řinnovation before filing
a patent application.


Present your invention to the
Intellectual╠řProperty Committee.
During this╠řpresentation you will pitch
your╠řidea/invention to the committee,
attempting╠řto convince them why
TU should pursue╠řpatent protection.╠ř

Selecting a Partner/Business Start-up

The patent attorney╠řteam will file your╠ř
disclosure╠řwith the

Inventors work directly╠řwith TU's╠řoutside
patent attorneys.

Select a company that shows interest in

If a new╠ř business start-up
has been chosen as a commercialization path,
OTT will assist in planning, creating and╠ř
funding the start-up.╠ř

A License agreement is a contract between TU
and a third parry in which TU's rights to a technology
are licensed (without relinquishing owernship)
for financial and other╠řconsideration. Licensing is
a team approach╠řinvolving╠ř
both OTT and the inventor(s).╠ř
